DBS makes the most out of Facebook

Uses the social networking site as venue to offer promotional and marketing tool.

DBS recently set up a Facebook page and will offer great prizes to users who tag themselves at famous tourist destinations through Facebook Places.

The promotional offer comes amid growing popularity of Facebook, which has signed up more than 10 million users here in Taiwan alone. To leverage this popularity, DBS has set up a Facebook page at, aiming to connect with users and customers more effectively.

To encourage people to use the page, DBS plans to offer various perks. Those joining DBS as a fan can earn five points each time they use Facebook Places to tag themselves at a famous tourist destination in Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia or India. Recommending the site to a friend will earn the user three points. If the friend also tags him- or herself, the original user will get one point. Those who get the most points will get a free trip for two to one of the five aforementioned countries.
